SPORTS AWARDS: Banbury RFC pick up double

Banbury Rugby Club have been named Cherwell District Council’s sports club of the year.

And groundsman Mark Woodward made it a club double by scooping the unsung hero award.

Youth section chairman Chris White accepted the honour on behalf of the club.

He said: “The award is recognition of the countless hours that officials, volunteers and coaches put into the smooth running of the club”.

Leader/Volunteer of year: Dave Earle; Andrew Pallett. School Team of year: Blessed George Napier Year 8 Football: Blessed George Napier Year 7 Football. Active Inspiration Award: Rob Evans; Helen Harman. Junior Sportsperson of year: Michael Wakelin; Heloise Hardie.

Disabled Sports Team of year: Banbury United Inclusive Disability Football Team. Inspirational Young Person of year: Kyle Millard.
