ROWING: Reeves return is success

British junior rower Leanne Reeves was the star of the Wallingford Sculls.

Returning to her home club, Reeves, who was competing for the first time in St Edward’s School, Oxford colours, turned in two impressive performances.

She won the J17 singles and then came third in J18 race.

Wallingford were the most successful outfit of the day with six wins.

Four of the them came courtesy of their successful veteran men. Mike Edge triumphed in the masters category D singles for the fourth year in a row and Andy Hull took the masters B singles for the second year running.

Sean Morris won the masters F in his single and Ted Garlick and Ken Houston was victorious in the masters G doubles category.

Wallingford’s other two wins came from their women, Brianna Stubbs in the women’s senior singles and Katrina Garnett in the novice singles.

Other local successes came for City of Oxford, who had wins with their women’s J16 and men’s J14 crews, while Hinksey and Osiris both had single sculls successes.

The event drew 500 crews from all over the country.
