GREYHOUNDS: Oxford setting sights on glory

Oxford once again bid for glory when the BAGS Track Championship gets under way on Friday, November 2.
The competition, with a total prize fund of £160,000, will, however, pose a few conundrums for the racing office with the shortage of hounds. The format will see Oxford travelling to Swindon, before hosting their home leg on November 16.
The event finishes at Poole on Saturday, December, 1.
This year, instead of six greyhounds representing Oxford there will be 12 – two per race.
The conditions for the event are five graded races, with no entries having won an open event.
The prize-money is superb, with race winners receiving £200 and winning teams £1,500 just at the group stage.
BAGS should be praised for sponsoring the championship for the second year running.
Early contenders for Oxford are likely to include Daddys Round, Movealong Penny, Born To Survive, When In Rome, Shelbourne Helen and Oakfront Ironman.

Do some research John Gaisford and publish how many dogs Oxford track has destroyed over the years and how many dogs that have raced at Oxford are still alive today!
