SCHOOL SPORT: Burger records top-six finish

Oxfordshire's Nicole Burger finished a highly-creditable sixth in the national final of the ESAA English Schools’ Combined Events Championships at the Bedford International Stadium.
Competing in the senior girls’ heptathlon, the 18-year-old Bicester Community College pupil posted a personal best 4,078 points as Merseyside’s Danielle McGifford struck gold with 4,961.
Burger bettered her previous efforts in the shot (9.50m), long jump (4.93m) and 800m (2mins 35.88 secs).
Oxon’s Hayley Perrin, Maike Chapel and Jess Daniels finished fifth in the intermediate girls’ heptathlon team competition.
Perrin (Bartholomew, Eynsham) led the way in 17th with a personal best 3,916 points, which included new marks in the 80m hurdles (12.33), shot (7.71), 200m (27.68) and javelin (28.53).
Chapel (Cherwell, Oxford) was a place back in 18th with a personal best 3,868 points, which featured improved performances in high jump (1.62), shot (7.53), javelin (29.91) and 800m (2.41.47).
