ANGLING: Deeley joy

It was first time lucky for Oxford’s Eammon Deeley after he landed this fantastic 23lb 120z pike with his first cast on his first fish of the season.

Deeley, who is better known for his triathlon and cycling exploits, caught the fish on an undisclosed section of the Thames, using a lure on a 100lb braid line.

He landed 11 pike in total, including a 16lb 2oz and 10lb 8oz specimen.
