YOUTH CRICKET: Magdalen in repeat success
12:00pm Saturday 22nd September 2012 in Sport
Magdalen College School won the Oxfordshire School’s U12 Bunbury Cricket Final for the second year running after beating Lord Williams’s School (Thame) by nine wickets.
Magdalen beat Wheatley Park, Gosford Hill and John Mason schools on the way to the final rescheduled due to June’s deluge.
Put in to bat, Lord Williams’s soon found themselves reeling at 25-3.
A stand of 37 between Dan Collins and James McStay saw Lord Williams’s recover to 69-6 off 20 overs, Charlie Taylor taking 3-10 off four overs and Archie Spittles (1-1 off three overs).
In reply, Magdalen reached their target of 70 in the 13th over for the loss of one wicket, Joe Carey hitting an unbeaten 33, and skipper Tom Price undefeated on 15.
They now progress to the national competition next year.
