RUGBY LEAGUE: New Oxford club launched

A NEWLY formed Oxford club will enter rugby league’s semi-professional Championship One competition next year.
The news was confirmed yesterday at Oxford University ’s Iffley Road ground where they will play in rugby league’s third tier.
Oxford join fellow newboys Hemel Stags and University of Gloucestershire All Golds in the restructured competition as the Rugby Football League’s (RFL) look to spread their sport into new locations.
They also unveiled Tony Benson, who has previously coached Championship clubs Leigh Centurions and Oldham, as their head coach.
