ANGLING: Perks records first victory

Gerald Perks claimed his first win of the season with an all-waggler caught bag of roach in Littlemore AS’s W Henwood Cup on the Thames at Sandford.

Fished with hemp/tares/caster, he had roach to 1lb in his winning weight of 22.0.0.

Runner-up Pete Clarke opted for the pole, and also had a good net of roach for 14.11.0, while Alan Campbell was third on 13.10.0. The total match weight was 106.22.0.

Graham Bradshaw won Marston AC's FTB match for the W Smith Cup, fished on the Cherwell.

Bradshaw had around 30 small perch and a couple of skimmers for a winning weight of 6.14.0.

Steve Tomkins was second with 4.15.0 of small perch and roach, also taken on the pole with red maggot over hemp.

Wayne Rudman was third with 3.5.0 of perch caught on chop worm and pole.

Meanwhile, Marston’s match on the Thames at Donnington on October 21 will be an open sponsored by Fishing Tackle and Bait. Members wishing to fish should contact Steve Tomkins on 07789 890256.

A combination of an in-form peg four on Swallow Lake and the on-song Lee Ripper produced another win for the GOT-backed angler at Oakfield Fishery on Saturday.

The top weight from Red Kite venue was Pete Alland, who came third overall.

Andy Benwell had his first look at the Red Kite & Swallow Lake venue on Sunday, but that did not stop him from chalking up a win from peg 23 at Oaklfield.

A mixture of F1 carp to 3lb and bigger carp to 13lb won the day.

Jason Bean was a clear winner of Kidlington AC's match on the Cherwell with 5.0.0 of bits. Second place went to Doug Foreshaw with 3.14.0, while Billy Burnell was third with 3.12.0. Ten fished.
