FOOTBALL: McCrory upbeat

Banbury United owner Jed McCrory feels the club’s first Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division win of the season is just around the corner.

Ahead of tomorrow’s home game with Chippenham, he admitted that new boss Edwin Stein, who took over following the departure of Ady Fuller, had been given a tough start.

Two draws were followed by Tuesday’s FA Cup replay exit at the hands of Hungerford Town. “In a week, he has had three games and held one training session,” said McCrory.

“Since Ady has gone, we have lost eight first-teamers, so it’s like pre-season all over again.

“We are trying our best to get people in and I’m convinced that in two weeks, we will turn the corner.”
