FOOTBALL: Tucker's strike is the key
10:00am Wednesday 12th September 2012 in Sport
Oxford Irish’s Craig Hanlon gets above Andy Gledhill during their 2-2 draw against Launton Sports in the Premier Division
Karl Tucker scored a late winner as Broughton & North Newington secured a 2-1 success at Northway in Division 1 of the Oxfordshire Senior League.
The home side took the lead when Anthony Simpsson headed home, only for Aaron Field to level, before Tucker struck on 87 minutes.
Chalgrove recorded their first win in a 2-1 victory at home to Eynsham.
Simon Godfrey put Chalgrove ahead with a penalty awarded for handball and they doubled their lead through a Nick Skiller header.
Although a defensive mix-up allowed Tom McCudden to slot home from close range, Chalgrove held on.
Chris Davies, Alex Woodfine and Matt Keeble notched doubles as Oakley United crushed North Oxford 9-1.
Lee Parrack, Lenny Sackey and an own goal completed their tally, with Max Palmer replying for the visitors.
Nicky McMahon hit a second-half equaliser as Oxford Irish twice fought back to draw 2-2 at Launton Sports in the Premier Division.
Launton took the lead when Paul Lisseter headed Jonny Moore’s free-kick over the stranded keeper.
However, the hosts suffered a setback when Ben Miles went off injured with a badly lacerated ear after a collision with the Irish keeper.
After the break, McMahon levelled from close range after Launton keeper James Lisseter had parried a goal-bound effort.
Nicky Baldock then restored Launton’s lead after Mark Scanes’s free-kick hit a post.
Launton then spurned several chances to extend their lead and paid the price when McMahon completed his double to seal a share of the spoils. John Danby scored the winner for Adderbury Park in their 1-0 success at home to Horspath.
Scott Finch and Tristan Salt hit trebles in Middleton Cheney Res’ 8-1 thrashing of visitors Launton Sports Res in Division 2.
Josh Hart and Andrew Boyles got their other goals, with Matthew Hunt replying.
Jamie Power, Mark Harper, Ben Fouracre, Jay Johnson and Declan Witcher were on target for Yarnton Res as they drew 5-5 at home to Garsington Res.
Richard Morgan, Dan Fraser, Daniel Smith, Dom Fay and Sam Curfin found the net for Garsington.
Dan Croad bagged the winner for Oxford University Press Res as they beat visitors Kennington Res 1-0.
Horspath Res won 6-1 at Enstone Res in Division 3, thanks to a hat-trick from Dwayne Webster.
Alex Allen, James Fisher and Daniel Normington got their others, with Mark Clements replying.
A Ryan Scott treble and a Chris Scott strike saw Long Crendon Res fight back from a goal down before beating Broughton & North Newington Res 4-1.
Wes Furey’s wonder-strike gave Broughton the lead, only for the visitors to hit back for victory.
