...of interesting opinions again. Let's all hope the break this week recharges batteries & next Mon we're all talking about a thumping win.

Right, that just about does it for today's chat. Thanks as always to everyone who contributed, you decide what we talk about & plenty...

11:31am
@OxfordMailOUFC I would have Chapman and Cox, then Rigg, Potter, Pittmann behind Craddock
— @acherrie1 10 September 2012
11:29am
@OxfordMailOUFC he has been steady but really struggles to get back when caught on the break. Alot of times in Swindon game and sat #oufc
— @tim_cowley 10 September 2012
11:28am
Yeah, fair point @OUFCWomble. Also, if he's going to be here for 6 months it's worth using him.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:28am
Agree with the Capaldi fans, for someone who missed the whole of last season I think he's done well. Not as attacking as Davis, but steady.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012

RT @realpaulhawtin: @OxfordMailOUFC I'd have predicted 10 pts by now, we're 1 short of that so still a decent start. The strikers will d ...

@OxfordMailOUFC Nor was Whing, but he turned out as a solid CDM
— @OUFCWomble 10 September 2012
11:26am
Boateng isn't a natural midfielder, but as a defender he would at least have the discipline to sit in front of the back four. #oufc
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:24am
@OxfordMailOUFC I Could see 3 CAMS being played (Rigg-Potter-Pittman) with Smalley up front. Chapman and JFC in CM. Deadly.
— @OUFCWomble 10 September 2012
11:24am
@AndrewRansley @OxfordMailOUFC disagree. Capaldi has been good, if not better defensively than Davis. Also offers experience.
— @OUFCWomble 10 September 2012
11:23am
Agree, Darren. Don't think it's a coincidence the leaking of goals has come while Cox has been out injured. Hoping to have him back on Sat.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:22am
@OxfordMailOUFC 7 goals conceded in 2 games is unacceptable. We need to defend better as a team. Think we need Cox back in the team asap
— @GilbertGrape74 10 September 2012
11:20am
The back four have played every minute so far. Think on the whole they've been good, but the errors have been costly against York & Exeter.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
But, as with those critical of Heslop, what options does CW have at the moment if he wanted to change the defence. McGinty? #oufc
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:19am
RT @NCameron84: @OxfordMailOUFC the defenders have conceded 7 goals in last 2 league games and there has been no changes there in the match!
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
RT @NCameron84: @OxfordMailOUFC it can't help the forwards knowing if they don't score in the 1st hour they are going to get taken off! ...
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:19am
@OxfordMailOUFC heslop offers nothing to the team yet wilder picks him! Bulman and payne were better and he let them go! #oufc
— @JMWootten 10 September 2012
11:16am
That might be worth a look, Andrew. Could have Rigg-Craddock/JFC-Potter behind Constable or Smalley. WHing/Cox/Chapman as the 2?
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:15am
@OxfordMailOUFC i'd say that with him being incapable of running 30 yds without stopping and puffing, any Youth player would do a better job
— @Chris_hogg 10 September 2012
11:15am
@tim_cowley @oxfordmailoufc I agree having @Whingy2 back will add a bit of steal to the midfield so the other 2 can push on
— @jamma0009 10 September 2012
11:12am
Leven and Worley are making good progress, think it'll then be Whing followed by Davis. Dubes obviously still way off. #oufc
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:12am
#oufc have been reluctant since the season started to put return dates on the injured players. Think Whing is still several weeks away.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:09am
@OxfordMailOUFC what does everybody think wilders midfield 3 is when all available? Wring, chappers, jfc for me #oufc
— @tim_cowley 10 September 2012
@OxfordMailOUFC do you know how far @Whingy2 is far away from fitness??
— @jamma0009 10 September 2012
11:08am
...time to work on tactical & technical flaws. This will be the 1st time since pre-season #oufc will have had the chance to tighten them up.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:08am
How beneficial do you think this blank midweek will be. Wilder pointed out on Sat that playing twice a week means there's been little...
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:04am
Yep, there are trips to Burton, Cheltenham and Rotherham all to come in the next four games. Can't see IL being too hasty at this stage, tho
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:04am
@OxfordMailOUFC next 4 games, 3 are away. It's a big few weeks for us. We need to stay in the top 3. If we don't IL may load his gun? #oufc
— @mdzharris 10 September 2012

Pictures from Oxford United's game against Exeter are now online! http://t.co/s4D23LOJ
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:02am
Isn't the lack of a naturally defensive-minded midfielder a bigger problem? Chapman/JFC/Heslop's instincts are to attack rather than protect
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:02am
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, Mitch, but you can only appeal a booking if it's mistaken identity. So no appeal is open to #oufc
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:02am
Would 4-4-2 help? Wilder felt the defeat was down to #oufc trying to play through a congested middle rather than using the flanks. Thoughts?
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
11:02am
@OxfordMailOUFC I don't think batts crosses met one yellow shirt. Would like to see how many he put in. Also JPP best header up front #oufc
— @tim_cowley 10 September 2012
11:02am
@OxfordMailOUFC I think we look better with 4-4-2 system as our 4-3-3 turns easily into 4-5-1 and teams still overrun us in midfield.
— @LaurenceHook 10 September 2012
10:59am
@OxfordMailOUFC Any kind of appeal being considered for Constable's red? And who will start up top next game, surely Craddock?
— @Mitcheast1 10 September 2012
10:58am
Interesting point, Tony. #oufc must have had a dozen crosses in the 1st half but no-one looked like they were going to attack them.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:56am
Heslop's being picked because with Cox out there are no other options. He's been below par, think #oufc have been hoping the mins would help
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:55am
Agree it was great to have Leven back in the squad. He's still some way off being match fit, but it's a step in the right direction. #oufc
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:53am
Can never overlook the impact those missing players have made. 8 games in 26 days for this squad has been difficult.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:51am
@OxfordMailOUFC injuries is key at the moment missing dubes, leven and whing- don't like to single out players but heslop not good enough.
— @KenMamos 10 September 2012
10:51am
@OxfordMailOUFC Saturday just brought home to me that 433 just does not work. Too many crosses going astray with only 1 central striker.
— @AbingdonTony 10 September 2012
10:51am
@OxfordMailOUFC I know you're not going to answer this. But, how can Heslop even be considered for selection with his terrible fitness?
— @Chris_hogg 10 September 2012
10:50am
@OxfordMailOUFC Great to see Leven on the bench on Sat. Lots of people unfairly writing off an excellent player.
— @Mitcheast1 10 September 2012
10:50am
There were echoes of the Swindon red, I thought. 1st yellow looked harsh, but whatever the injustice you have to be far more careful.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:47am
Welcome aboard, James. The squad has 7 forwards, including Tyrone Marsh, do you think #oufc are getting the most out of them?
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:47am
@OxfordMailOUFC I think he's very easy to wind up. Shame cause he looked sharp when he came on. He's been poor for a long time #oufc
— @tim_cowley 10 September 2012
10:45am
@OxfordMailOUFC think it's been a good start, We've been pretty solid and played some nice football, still a bit lightweight up front tho?

Constable was on Twitter yesterday talking about the decision. I'll retweet now, let me know what you think.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:43am
I agree, Tim. Unless it's a really unjust decision. What was your view of Constable's red card.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:41am
@OxfordMailOUFC deserved. I still hate it when on occasion we have. Player sent off he is clapped off. He's been sent off! #oufc
— @tim_cowley 10 September 2012
10:40am
Hi Mattie. It's a fair point, the start has been tricky. Of the 5 league games at least 3 were against sides who will expect to challenge.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:39am
@OxfordMailOUFC The league table doesn't lie, we have had tough oppo. Just need to be a bit more consistent on the pitch and we will do fine
— @MattieOufc 10 September 2012
10:38am
Did like the way some #oufc fans clapped Cureton off when he got subbed. Nice touch, which he acknowledged.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:37am
Morning Mark. Thought Cureton was outstanding on Sat, 231 career goals & counting. Was a bit worrying to see Raynes brushed aside like that.
— @OxfordMailOUFC 10 September 2012
10:37am
@OxfordMailOUFC bit concerned that 37 year old Cureton made Raynes look like a slow Phil Whelan if I'm honest #OUFC
