CRICKET: Rampant Horley are champions

CHERWELL LEAGUE

Division 5

HORLEY are champions and one success away from finishing the season with a 100 per cent winning record after they saw off Kimble with ease.

Nick Tarrant (53), Jonathan Hart (52) and Sam Pearce (50) set up a declaration after 45 overs with Horley on 259-6.

Jonathan Stackhouse (43) delayed Horley's party for a while, but Dave Eaton (5-23) and Darren de Bruyn (3-55) bowled out Kimble for 167.

Matt Jones took 7-37 – including a hat trick – as Tiddington tumbled to 70 all out.

The hosts then used only 16.3 overs in reaching 71-2.

Robert Timmis then grabbed 3-14 as Horspath chugged to 108-6 from 38.2 overs.

Shame that the leaders have found it easy, but when you don't play the runners up all season what do you expect.

Horley are a useful side, way too strong for division 5, they will end up in Div 2 at least. Helps they no longer lose their players to Banbury XX.!

Congratulations to Horley, a suggessful enrty into the Cherwell league. Also Congratulations to Cubblington, a second promotion!
Does anyone else think that maybe these side could/should go in higher then 5? they seem to walk it abit by the looks of it.

Cleverswindler - by the look of how Banbury have performed in that league are you sure Banbury XX aren't still about?
