COLIN Wainwright claimed first place with an impressive catch in the second round of the Oxford Super League.

A rising Medley stretch of the Thames saw bream most regularly caught by the 46 anglers, although plenty of roach showed as well.

Wainwright (Sensas A4) landed the catch of the day with a 52.5.0 bream on feeder and worm from a peg in the Poplars.

Drennan Banbury Gunsmith’s Red won the team event, but Shakespeare top the overall standings.

Tom Rice claimed Beehive AC’s FA and UEFA Cup quarter-finals with a 48.4.0 carp, which took him well clear of Bob Hopgood (21.2.0) and Bob Alder (20.9.0).

Mick Dempsey won Tackley Sports AC’s Sports Club Trophy on a high and fast River Cherwell.
