GREAT Britain’s London 2012 Olympic crews will be announced today, with around 30 Oxfordshire oarsmen and women set to be in the squad.
The crews are expected to be largely those selected for the first two World Cup regattas of 2012.
This would see an all-Oxon line-up in Britain’s flagship boat – the men’s four.
Oxford resident Andrew Triggs Hodge will be joined by Oxford University Blue Pete Reed, Tom James, from Henley, and Leander member Alex Gregory.
Today should also see Fran Houghton, from Wheatley, confirmed in the women’s quad, marking a successful comeback following a year away from rowing.
She said: “The London Olympics are definitely very motivating.
“You know you will never get this chance again.”
Read tomorrow’s Oxford Mail for full details of which Oxon rowers are selected.
