CRICKET: Geeson-Brown’s injured
Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League
OXFORD have suffered a blow ahead of tomorrow’s Division 1 clash at home to High Wycombe with young seamer Tom Geeson-Brown ruled out by a knee injury.
Geeson-Brown, who was earmarked for a big role this campaign, has already played six times for Oxfordshire.
Oxford captain Ian Crosby said: “Tom injured his knee while playing for Leeds University.
“We are not sure how long he is going to be out for.”
Geeson-Brown did not play in last week’s defeat at Burnham, while spinner Francois Vainker is added to the squad to face Wycombe.
Oxford visit the same opponents in the Kingfisher Beer Cup on Sunday.
“It is a good double header for us,” said Crosby. “They are always tight games at Roman Way.
“Sunday will be a bit of a lottery what team they put out due to Minor Counties commitments.
“We have just got to improve on last week.
“There were some good things, but we didn’t play the turning ball very well.
“It was a shame not to win.”
Banbury have named an unchanged side for the visit of Burnham.
Having beaten Bishop’s Stortford by 79 runs in their opener, confidence is high.
“It was a great win,” said captain Ian Hawtin. “We have got to make sure that we concentrate on Saturday.
“Burnham will not be easy and showed that by beating Oxford last week.”
