BOWLS: Oxon quartet bid for England call

FOUR Oxfordshire bowlers have been selected for England trials next month.

Headington’s Nathan Lewis will line up in the men’s trial at Norgren BC, Shipston-on-Stour, on Sunday, May 27.

Oxford City & County duo Katherine Hawes and Donna Knight together with Banbury Central’s Carole Galletly have been chosen to take part in the women’s trial at the same venue the previous Sunday .

Headington’s Mark Charlett has also been selected as a non-travelling reserve for the men’s trial.

• OXFORDSHIRE have named their teams for the Middleton Cup Trial matches against Northamptonshire at Oxford City & County on Saturday, May 12 and against Gloucestershire at Barnwood BC, Gloucester, on Saturday, May 19.

• OXFORDSHIRE’S Rodney and Edith Knight were beaten 12-6 by Wiltshire’s Gill and Chris Willis in the Warman mixed pairs short mat competition final at the Regal Centre, Wallingford.
