Young karting prospect Elliot Harvey, from Didcot, took a big step up in class and recorded two second-place finishes.
The ten-year-old was invited to make his debut in the first rounds of the Formula KartStars (FKS) at Kimbolton, near Bedford.
FKS are supported by Formula 1 Management, whose aim is to guide drivers towards Formula 1 through racing and education.
Harvey, competing against some of the top Honda Cadets – some up to three years older – had never been on the track before.
On the first day, he qualified seventh for the final, where he stormed through the field and held the lead for nine laps before being caught by Kimbolton champion Rory Hudson and having to settle for second spot.
Problems in qualifying meant that Harvey was only ninth on the grid in Sunday’s final.
Again, he went straight into first place, which he held for four laps.
Hudson again overtook Harvey, who pushed, but had to settle for runners-up position once more.
