LUCAS Davies and Sophie Wheeler were voted the best performers at Bicester AC’s winter awards evening.
Davies finished down the field in his first Oxon League Cross Country, but showed steady improvement throughout the season and closed the season in fifth place at Wittenham.
Wheeler became the first Bicester athlete to win a cross-country championship for many years.
She was also leading her series in the Oxford Mail Cross Country League going into the last event, but injury ended hopes of victory.
Best girl performer was Amy Gould, who ended the season with a top-ten finish in the Oxford Mail series standings in the under 11 girls’ event.
The best boy cross country performer was under 11 runner Fergus Jones.
Bicester AC had a great season in the Oxfordshire Sportshall League, with overall team trophy wins in the under 11 boys, under 13 boys, under 15 girls and under 15 boys events.
