BANBURY United reached the Evo-Stik Southern League’s Red Insure Cup semi-finals after a 2-0 victory at Hemel Hempstead last night.

Hemel wasted two early chances and were then made to pay when on 50 minutes, Simeon Williams fired home from Danny Edmond’s cross.

Dior Angus scored with a superb 25-yard effort after 53 minutes to seal the tie.

Oxford City’s Premier Division promotion hopes suffered a blow with a 2-1 home defeat to Stourbridge. Steve Basham put City ahead on 31 minutes after a goalmouth scramble, but two penalties from Sean Geddes won it.

The first, on 36 minutes, was controversial after Adam Learoyd appeared to win the ball, while the second, on 66 minutes, came after another Learoyd foul, which saw him sent off for a second booking.

Didcot Town were well beaten 2-0 at home to Halesowen Town in Division 1 South & West, with Ben Haseleyand Mark Smith heading home for the visitors.

Goals from Justin Bennet, on two minutes and 85 minutes, consigned Abingdon United to a 2-0 home defeat to Gosport Borough.
