Oxford City boss is hoping that Wycombe youngster Olly Taylor could be answer to their striker crisis, starting with Saturday’s Premier Division trip to Leamington.

Taylor, 18, a second-year scholar at the League One strugglers, will make his debut as long as the paperwork is completed on his loan move.

Steve Basham (Achilles), Aaron Woodley (ankle) out injured, Alex Fisher is away and Felipe Barcelos is banned, so Ford is short on numbers.

“He lives in Oxford, but has escaped the net,” said Ford.

“He’s been in their first-team squad and has got a decent goalscoring record in the youth and reserve teams.

“I’m looking forward to having him on board.

“Pablo Haysham (from Oxford City Nomads) did okay and got a goal. He may get another chance Saturday.”

However, City will be without midfielder Darren Pond for several weeks after he went over on an ankle in Tuesday’s Barwell game which was frozen off on 47 minutes.

Ford added: “If the ref had called it off at half-time, it maybe wouldn’t have happened. That slip (by Pond) made up his mind to call it off.

“But it gives Reece Fleet the chance to show what he can do.

“We are fairly stretched at the moment, but we have quality players to get a good result at Leamington.”

Banbury United manager Ady Fuller says a repeat of their show at AFC Totton can inspire them to win at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Although they lost 2-1, Fuller was pleased with the attitude of his patched-up side, which meant he had to draft defender Ben Polk into attack.

“We put in a good performance although we were down to the bare bones,” said Fuller.

“We had four chances and they had four chances and they put two of their’s away.

“We knew we had to play a big man up front against them and Ben caused them a few problems.

“There were lots of positives, it was a shame about the result. If we play as we did against Totton then we will have no problems.”

Striker Danny Edmonds returns, while Ricky Johnson (rib injury) has a late test.
