Wallingford RC secured three wins, two second places and a third among the 517 finishers in the Scullers Head, held over the 4¼-mile Mortlake to Putney course Their wins came for Anna Reid in the women’s senior class, Christina Heemskerk in the intermediate 1 and the perennial Sean Morris.
He won the masters G age division with a performance which made him the top veteran after age handicaps were applied.
Mike Edge, in masters D, and Kathryn Twyman, in wo-men’s elite lightweight, were the second-place finishers.
Twyman, a world champion, was followed home by her clubmate Caroline Greves.
Jen Goldsack, who sculled at Wallingford after racing in the Oxford women’s lightweight Boat Race crew in 2003, won the women’s elite class.
Alison Brighton and Karen Roberts, of Abingdon RC, ach-ieved second places in their intermediate 1 and masters C classes.
