TWO tries from Guy Nicholl helped Grove defeat Slough 39-9 at Cane Lane.

The makeshift wing, who is usually a flanker, scored twice in the second half as Grove took control.

Fly half Roger Sevier put Grove ahead with a penalty, but Slough replied in kind.

Centre Dave Maryon set up flanker Joe Bellinger for Grove’s opening try, converted by Roger Sevier.

Two more penalties brought the visitors right back into it before full back Nick Sevier finished a move started by No 8 Ben Nicholl.

Roger Sevier converted this and a penalty for a 20-9 half-time lead.

Slough’s loose-head prop was yellow-carded before Guy Nicholl glided over for his first try.

Roger Sevier finished a terrific backs move and converted try No 4 himself, then added the extras to Guy Nicholl’s second score.

Alchester were beaten 27-16 at home by a powerful and well-drilled Milton Keynes, who had four players sin-binned.

Milton Keynes went ahead with penalties from Wayne Kelly and Phil Powell in the opening quarter, Alchester centre Tom Miles replying in kind.

On 30 minutes, left wing Jack Briggs charged in field to score Alchester’s only try, Miles converting.

Another Miles penalty made it 13-6, but as try from Kieran McConnell, converted by Kelly, meant it was level at half-time.

Miles restored Alchester’s lead with a penalty after wing Andy Blacklock had been tripped.

But Milton Keynes won the game thanks to tries from Ash Hill and Simon Kockelburgh, converted by Kelly.

Wallingford did not play as scheduled opponents Broadmoor Staff have withdrawn from the league.
