EVO-STIK SOUTHERN LEAGUE

Didcot Tn 0, Hungerford Tn 1 (Hopper 77)

DIDCOT Town produced their best display of the season, but it was not enough as visitors Hungerford extended their winning start to three games in Division 1 South & West.

With a new-look front line of Danny Seaward and the returning Phil John, Didcot looked much more threatening.

But former Didcot keeper Michael Watkins haunted his old club with a couple of fine saves.

Didcot keeper David Lyons blocked Nick Ogbanufe’s early strike, then made another smart save from Jamie Gosling.

John saw a free-kick saved, and then Lee Henderson headed an effort just over the bar.

In the second half, Jon Boardman was denied again by Lyons, while at the other end, John spurned a fine chance as he shot wide with just Watkins to beat.

Watkins then made two superb saves, first to deny John from distance, and then to claw away Seaward’s goalbound header.

Henderson saw another header hacked off the line.

Almost out of nowhere, Hungerford went in front.

A corner was not cleared and substitute Luke Hopper crashed home the loose ball from close range to seal victory.

Didcot: Lyons, Williamson (Turner 85), Halliday, Durrant, Stanley, Henderson, Heapy, Howell (Ajani 77), Seaward, Millar (Carr 67), John.
