FORMER Oxfordshire player Fi Morris returned to haunt her old side as Gloucestershire hammered them by 209 runs in ECB Women’s County Championship 5 South & West at Charlbury.
Morris smashed 127 in Gloucestershire’s 269 all out, then took 3-12 in ten overs of spin to help dismiss the hosts for 60.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Oxfordshire struck a couple of early blows, but the damage was done in a fourth-wicket stand of 144 between Morris and Alex McDonald.
Oxon plugged away and took the last six visiting wickets for just five runs, off-spinner Bridget Rhodes-Moore claiming 5-28 and 16-year-old seamer Caitie Burton finishing with 3-37.
Openers, Rhian Todd and Gemma Muttitt, got going in Oxon’s reply, but no one else could deal with seamer McDonald (4-13) and Morris as the hosts were all out in 27 overs.
The result leaves Oxon bottom of the table with two matches to play.
