OXFORD Cavaliers suffered more woe in the South West Conference, going down 36-22 to Bristol Sonics.

This was their opponents’ first victory of the season.

It started well for hosts Oxford, who took the lead when Jack Briggs crashed over for an unconverted try.

But Bristol soon took command, running in five first-half tries, with one converted.

Winger Ben Bodinham scored his fifth try of the season, while Russ Jewell added a third try for Oxford. Shane Turner slotted a conversion.

Trailing 22-14 at the break, Oxford conceded three further tries in the second half, one of them converted, while Mat-avasi and Devanney scored two further converted tries for Oxford.

Bristol’s scorers were Andrew Bond (2), Andy Parsons, Mike Norman, Lewis Beer, Matt Douglas, Ryan Hall and Peter Butcher, while Josh Craven added two conversions.
