TEAM Monarch’s Martin Cook was in exceptional form, clanging off 15 dolls (5-4-6) in their 2-1 Section 3 win at The Chequers, writes ANDY BEAL.

Monarch won the first two legs 23-16, 19-15, with Chequers claiming the last 23-16, Cook’s six proving in vain.

Thirteen dolls from Phil Jackson (6-4-3) helped Three Horseshoes take maximum points at home to Cowley Workers.

They won all three legs with ease, 22-13, 24-15, 20-16.

In Premier/Section 1, Ken Maunder starred with 14 dolls (5-5-4) to inspire Garsington Sports to a thrilling 2-1 win at holders Six Bells Kidlington.

Garsington won the first leg 33-27, lost the next 27-23, but won the decider 32-31.

In Section 2, Squire Bassett enjoyed a 3-0 victory at Kidlington Sports Club.

Paul Holt’s 14 dolls (5-5-4) led the way as they took maximum points with leg scores of 20-13, 26-22, 20-14.

Good consistency from Gladiators just gave them the edge at home to Punch Bowl.

They hit 29 in the opening leg with Punch Bowl replying with 17.

The visitors then set 24 which Gladiators equalled thanks to anchor man Nick Chapman whipping off the three dolls needed.

Punch Bowl took the leg on a three-stick shoot-out.

In the deciding leg, Gladiators ran out 22-19 winners as Dave Webb top-scored with 13 dolls (4-5-4).

Pete Shepherd hit a steady 4-4-4 for Queens Head, but it was all in vain as they lost 2-1 to White Hart, who set the opening leg with 19.

After a slow reply, Queens’ anchor man Shepherd was left five to win, which was just too much, but he got four to tie the leg, before his side won it on three sticks.

However, White Hart came storming back to take the next two legs 23-16, 27-23.

Simon King was top dog with 13 dolls (4-4-5).

Veteran Mick Beane came to the rescue for Seacourt Bridge as they just got the better over Cricketers, Littleworth in Section 4.

Chasing 16 in the opening leg, anchor man Beane whipped off the two needed to take an early lead.

Seacourt won the next 21-12 and then set Cricketers 16 in the final leg.

Once again Beane produced the goods to clang off the four needed to win the leg by the odd doll.

Steady throwing from Craig Greenough (4-4-4) was the difference as Nelson A come from behind to beat Golden Ball 2-1 in Section 6.

Nelson set all three legs and lost the opener 16-15, but won the next two 16-14, 18-12.

Donnington C scored more dolls than Viking Sports C, but still lost out 2-1.

Donnington easily won the opening leg 21-17, but lost the next leg on three sticks after the leg was tied 16-16.

The final leg went to Vikings 17-16. Donnington’s Cliff Lewis was top dog with 11 dolls (5-2-4).

In Section 9, Jon Dunhill hit a rare six in his ten dolls, but it could not prevent Fairview losing 2-1 at Florence Park.

Fairview produced some good throwing in the first leg, winning it 20-15, but could not keep it up.

Florence Park upped their game to take the next two legs 17-12, 18-13.

There was some good throwing in Section 11 between Prince Of Wales Iffley and The Kite.

Tony Flett, from Prince of Wales, was in fine form with ten dolls (4-2-4), but they still lost 2-1, despite winning the first leg 13-10.

Kite came storming back in the next leg in which Paul Wakefield whipped off an impressive five dolls as they won it 17-12.

Kite wrapped up the points in the final leg 12-7.
