CYCLE SPEEDWAY: Horspath suffer a time-out

Horspath Hammers lost their 100 per cent British Premier League record with a controversial 93-83 defeat at Birmingham.

Hammers went into heat 15 with a two-point advantage.

Matty Szymczak and Mark Carmichael rode to the start line with Birmingham’s Rycharski.

Ater allowing the home riders to take up their inside grid positions, Hammers were excluded for exceeding the time limit!

This gave the hosts a 7-0 result, while the exclusion for Horspath’s Shaun Rudman in heat 16 resulted in a 7-2 re-verse.

Horspath scorers: M Burgess 1, M Boaler 13, C Osborne 10, L Osborne 18, S Harris 13+3, M Carmichael 10+2, M Szymczak 10+1, S Rudman 8+1.

Horspath Combination went down 69-60 to Birmingham, a couple of falls for Jack Smith not helping their cause.

Three Horspath riders, Mark Boaler, Steve Harris and junior Mark Carmichael compete in Poole’s festival tomorrow.

Horspath’s Jessica Lamb, Rachel Edge and Livvy Horsley will represent the south & south west region against the eastern in the first round of the Womens League today.
