CYCLE SPEEDWAY: Horspath battle back for victory


HORSPATH Hammers hit back to cinch a 92-86 victory in the British Premier League at Leicester.

Hammers went down 6-4 in the first race.

But they replied in style with a 6-4 win from Lewis Osborne and Mike Morgans, a 7-2 victory from Matt Szymczak and Mark Boaler and a 6-4 success from Mark Car-michael and Chris Osborne putting them in control.

Leicester pulled back into contention with a 7-2 win following an exclusion for Osborne, but Hammers held on for a 92-86 victory.

Hammers scorers: M Boaler 17+1, M Carmichael 16, L Osborne 16, M Szymczak 13+2, S Harris 12+1, M Morgans 11+2, S Rudman 4, C Osborne 3.

  • HORSPATH took the opening round of the British Junior & Youth League in thrilling fashion.

With 208 entries from across the south of England, the victory went down to the last race, which was won by Hammers’ Wayne Clarke.

Hammers posted a 1-2-3 in the Under 8 section, with Jack Currell winning from Max Russell-Sharp and Eben Wakefield.

George Horsley won the Under 10 category.
