Oxford United stars roll back the years

Stars of the Sixties will be out in force as the U’s face Gateshead a week on Saturday.

Thirteen players who played such a big part in helping Oxford United into the Football League in 1962 will be guests of the club for the Blue Square Premier game.

Cyril Beavon, Peter Selby, Pat Quarterman, Ron Atkinson, Graham Atkinson, John Shuker, Colin Harrington, Peter Knight, Ray Colfar, Geoff Denial, Chalky White and Kevin Cornwall will all be introduced to the crowd at half-time and reliving the glory years in the restaurant before the game.

Is that the same Peter Selby who played two games for the club in the Southern League? If so, we are honoured!!!!!

By my calculations Jon Murray has named 12 players, is the thirteenth a "mystery star"? someone perhaps who played two games for the reserves or even Ray Gaston, it was always a mystery how he managed to miss the goal so often. Seriously a nice idea and if we are losing at half time, perhaps we could use some of them as subs. He's here, he's there he's every b....y where, Harrington.
