Kettering player-manager Lee Harper says he thinks Stevenage now have the edge in the race for the title.
Graham Westley’s free-scoring team took a major step towards a possible double by winning the first leg of their FA Trophy semi-final at Kidderminster 5-1, with ex-United striker Yemi Odubade again on the scoresheet.
Last week, Crawley boss Steve Evans suggested Stevenage were not good enough to take top spot.
Harper disagreed, though, saying: “I believe it will be Stevenage.
“That’s nothing against Oxford. But from what I’ve seen, they’ve got a little bit more.
“They’re a little tighter at the back and I think they have the edge. But it will be a great race.
“It was a good point for us, even though I was a bit disappointed with the first half. We didn’t impose ourselves and they were on top of us.
“But we got it together and got to grips with the game. James Dance scored with a great header and from then on we took control.”
