Oxford Hawks overcame Rover Oxford 3-2 in their eagerly-anticipated Women's South Clubs’ League Division 1 derby.

Hawks went in front when Ali Omell, charging through on goal, was hacked down, and then got up to convert the penalty stroke.

After the break, Rover levelled with a goal from Becky Hibbert.

Hawks regained the lead five minutes later. Laura Wingfield-Digby's short-corner strike was saved, but Kathryn Poulter lifted the rebound over the keeper to score her third goal in as many games.

A free hit from Henri Coles found Zoe Salter in the area and she deflected the ball in.

Bottom-of-the-table Rover pulled one goal back when Laura Smyth laid the ball off for Sam Sandham to slot home, but it was too little, too late.

Katie Gatt scored with a hat-trick of short-corner strikes in West Witney’s 4-2 win at Southgate 2nd in Division 3A. Karen Easterbrook got the other goal.

Promotion-chasing City of Oxford lost 3-1 at home to Sonning, with Rachel Lammey getting their goal.

Banbury lost at home, 2-1 to Teddington, and drop to third.

One goal down at half-time, Vicky Page equalised with a penalty flick, but Teddington then regained the initiative following a defensive mistakes.

Hawks 2nd lost 6-2 at Wyc-ombe 2nd. Sandra Satterly and Charlotte Burrows scored.

CITY of Oxford recovered from their league defeat on Saturday to beat North Notts 4-3 in the third round of the WHA Trophy in Mansfield on Sunday. Lammey (2) and Claire Hooper scored, before Kirtsy Brammer won it with an extra-time golden goal.
