CHINNOR will look to continue their recent improved form when they visit struggling Exmouth in National 3 South West tomorrow.

Since losing to Oxford Harlequins, Chinnor have collected nine points from two victories.

Head coach Jason Bowers said: “Against Quins we committed kick-chase suicide in the first 20 minutes, but our form has been good since then. We want to keep it going.

“One or two players have really stepped up. Rob Fenwick has led us in inspirational style after coming up from the second team.”

Fly half James Cathcart returns to the squad after a hamstring injury, centre James Hewitt is back after a wedding in Australia and prop Simon Matthews could feature following suspension.

Captain Matt Hutchings is pushing for a start after coming off the bench in their last match at Chippenham, while props Tom Whelan and Ian Stock are nearing fitness.

Director of rugby John Brodley is looking for Oxford Harlequins to stretch their unbeaten run to eight games when they visit Reading, with the kick-off brought forward to 2pm.

Harlequins have drawn their last two games – 5-5 against Bournemouth and 19-19 at Barnstaple.

And Brodley said: “We still remain unbeaten in seven games, so we are quite buoyant about the whole thing.

“Reading were promoted last year and I would think they would be targetting to beat us in the home game, so we know it will be tough, but we are on a run and growing in confidence all the time.”

Winger Xavier Andre is unavailable, and Luke Buckingham comes into the squad after a series of impressive performances for the 2nd XV.

Second row forward Craig Burrows remains sidelined as he awaits results of a scan on his injured knee.

Meanwhile, Oxford Harlequins 2nd’s game has been switched from Oxford to Reading, also with a 2pm kick-off.

Centre Danny Wells and flanker Adam Holloway return after injury for Henley Hawks’ trip to promotion-chasing Rosslyn Park in National 2 South.

Prop Hugo Gentilli and wing Dave Birtwhistle are also added to the squad that defeated Bridgwater & Albion last time out.

Head coach Chris Norrington has warned against complacency as Wallingford host whipping boys Wootton Bassett in South West 1 East.

The Wiltshire club have lost all 11 of their league games this season, conceding 451 points in the process.

And Wallingford go into the game on the back of what Norrington describes as their best result of the season – the 30-14 victory at Oakmeadians.

But he added: “We can’t be complacent and we must treat it like any other game and make sure we get the win.”

With flanker Will Woodward unavailable, 2nd XI captain Dan White comes into the side, and there is a place for Derek Viljoen on the bench as he returns from injury.

Scrum half Gareth Campbell and fly half Henry Lamb are set to return to the starting line-up as Southern Counties North leaders Witney visit Chipping Norton.

Skipper James Lamb, who pulled out of last week’s defeat at Swindon after becoming a father hours before kick-off, is named in the squad.
