Oxfordshire Under 15s produced a vastly-improved performance, but could not force victory in their ECB County Championship Division 4B match against Cornwall at Roche.
The home side won the toss and elected to field first on a bowler-friendly wicket.
But their decision backfired badly.
Openers Lloyd Sabin and Ross Barrett batted superbly in a magnificent opening stand of 145.
Sabin led the way with 88, which included nine fours and a six, while Barrett hit six boundaries in his 49.
Once the openers had gone, there were useful contributions from Matty Taylor and Curtly Slatter as Oxon closed on 209-8.
In reply, Cornwall wickets fell at regular intervals.
Only their opener, Thomas Rowe, got to grips with the tricky pitch with a classy 79.
Tom Nugent was once again the pick of the Oxfordshire bowlers, taking 3-32.
But Cornwall shut up shop to finish on 163-7 after giving up the run chase.
