Rover Oxford Ladies lost 3-0 at home to Cannock in their last scheduled match match in Slazenger England League Women’s Conference West.

It was already guaranteed that they would finish second from bottom in the table, and they must now face Sevenoaks in the EHL play-offs.

This game is to be played on Saturday, April 18 (12.30pm) at Iffley Road, Oxford.

With a squad of only 11 on the day, Rover remained composed and continued to press the well-drilled Cannock side.

Rover’s patience continued to force mistakes from the Cannock defence but they were unable to make the final pass count.

A quick free hit allowed Cannock to score the first goal.

A number of saves from Rover goalkeeper Caroline McCulloch kept the score at 1-0 until the second half.

Cannock won a number of short corners, which they were soon able to convert, scoring two more goals after the break.

Continued pressure on the defence from Becky Hibbert, Hayley Sawyer and Lorraine Campbell prevented Cannock getting the ball through to their front line, otherwise the visitors’ final margin of victory would have been bigger.
