Section 1 side Gladiators A pulled off their best win of the season by defeating Premier hopefuls Horse & Harrow 4-1 at home in the Johnson's Buildbase Oxford & District League, writes PETE EWINS.
Pete Witney beat Pete Lee 8,270-1,110 to take opener, before Maxi McDonnell levelled with a 10,680-3,100 victory over Frank Cox.
But then Gladiators took the last three games.
Skipper Bob Pincombe overcame Gary Johnson 9,140-3,510, and there were also wins for Keith Gardner (4,620) and Bert Loveridge.
Premier leaders Nelson A took full advantage of Horse & Harrow's setback by winning 4-1 away to Didcot Conservative Club.
Steven Sheard (5,890), Ray Sturgess (8,510) and Keith Sheard (13,140, break 8,100) put Nelson 3-0 up.
Undefeated Mark Trafford pulled a game back with breaks of 5,500) and 7,000 in his score of 13,830), before Keven Godfrey (9,080, break 8,900) took the last to open a six-point lead.
Masons A ran out 3-2 winners at home to Demo- crats.
Lloyd Wells (3,150 ), Brian Rose (4,830) and Mick Murphy (4,160) won for the hosts, with Richard Garrett (5,310) and Brian French (6,420) replying.
Dolphin A produced a great fightback to beat Corner House A 3-2.
Mike Jones (11,300) and Alan Oliver (12,160) took the first two games for Corner House.
But Dolphin hit back to take the next three games through Jimmy Robson (15,310) Simon Ellam (11,090) and Shaun Lee (11,490) Shelley Arms kept up their challenge in Section 2 with a 3-2 away win at Section 3 side Headington Conservative Club.
Martin Coulthard (1,970) and Graham Moon (2,230) put Shelley 2-1 up. But Ian Dunmore (1,200) levelled and Phil Chaundy beat Tim Jeffries 2,360-1,030 in the decider.
