ROVER Oxford Ladies chalked up a superb 4-1 win at fellow promoted side Bedford in their second England Slazenger League National North Division game.

The Rover defence were seldom challenged, with Jess Rickman and newcomer Livvy Lacey outstanding at the back.

It took until late on in the first half for Kara Haines to score Rover's first goal.

Kim Watkins crossed for Lyn Cockshott to rocket the ball past the Bedford keeper to make it two, and the third goal came after Cockshott drew the keeper and found Leanne Grimsley, who netted her first for the club.

Bedford had a better ten minutes and won themselves a short corner. And a deflection on the far post put them on the scoresheet. However, a final goal from Mankelow resulted in a well deserved victory.

Oxford Hawks went down to a 5-2 defeat in Division 1 of the South Clubs' League.

Hawks took an early lead with a fantastic straight strike by Alex Baird from a short corner, but Havant quickly equalised.

Havant then took the lead with a well-worked goal created by an overload from their midfield.

Hawks equalised with a short corner which was finished smoothly by talented newcomer Sarah Brimyard.

Despite excellent work rate by Hawks, Havant hit two more goals and sealed it late in the second half with a penalty flick.

In Division 3A, Banbury beat Oxfordshire Cup holders Henley 3-2, while West Witney went down 5-1 at home to Staines.

Banbury took the lead when Victoria Page's through ball was swept first-time into the net by debutant Nicola Park.

Natasha Nunneley made it two with a penalty flick after a strong break from Park.

Henley got back into the game through a reverse-stick shot, but Ann Glover restored Banbury's two-goal lead.

Henley grabbed their second goal with ten minutes to go to leave Banbury with an anxious few minutes.

Annie Lissington, Sophie Uitdehaag, Wendy Gundry and Laura Wingfield Digby all found the scoresheet as Oxford Hawks 2nd beat Reading 2nd 4-1 in Premier 1 of the Trysports 3 Counties League.

City of Oxford had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Maidenhead 2nd, Rachel Lammy equalising.
