NICKY Maynard is training with Oxford United today, with boss Karl Robinson still looking to strengthen his striking options.

The former Bristol City, West Ham United and Cardiff City forward is a free agent after leaving Aberdeen this summer.

Maynard has scored 93 goals in the Football League, but the frontman has been hit with a series of injuries over the last few years.

Robinson worked with 31-year-old at MK Dons and is keen to see if the striker fits into his plans.

The U’s boss said: “He’s just training.

“Nicky is not doing much at the moment and he's someone I know.

“He's had two bad years in some ways with niggles and little injuries.

“But we have the facilities now to allow these things to come into fruition and we've got another player coming in from France, so we will see where that takes us.

“We're always looking to strengthen.”
