MARK Robins has called on his Coventry City side to sharpen up in front of goal ahead of Sunday’s trip to Oxford United.
Creating chances has not been an issue for the Sky Blues this season, but they have scored just three goals in six Sky Bet League One games.
They dominated the home game with Rochdale last weekend, but lost 1-0, with just two of their 16 shots on target.
Boss Mark Robins (pictured) said: “You can’t win a game if you don’t take your chances.
“We have created unbelievably good chances and turned them down.
“When you create chances like that you have got to be cold, ice cold, and you have got to believe that you can hit the target and we didn’t.
“I think their keeper has probably had to make one, maybe two saves, which is not good enough.
“And it’s too easy to say, ‘Oh, never mind, we played really well and were just a bit unlucky.’
“Unlucky doesn’t count. Unlucky gets you relegated. Unlucky gets you in the bottom four.
“I keep saying it, but we need to be more ruthless.”
Coventry hope their finishing will be improved with the signing of Conor Chaplin from Portsmouth last week.
The 21-year-old is in line to make his first start this weekend.
