OXFORD City are still waiting for their first goal of the Vanarama National League South season after going down 1-0 at Gloucester City.

Mark Jones’s side, who opened the campaign with a goalless draw at home to Eastbourne Borough on Saturday, lost out to Jake Jackson’s tap-in.

It came from a 64th-minute cross from Joe Parker, who had only come on as a substitute seconds earlier.

In a game with plenty of chances, both goalkeepers had made outstanding saves to keep the clash goalless.

City striker Matt Paterson saw his first-half effort superbly tipped on to the post by Gloucester stopper Matt Yates.

And it was followed up by a similarly impressive save at the other end from Craig King after the break, when Jake Mawford’s shot was turned on to the crossbar.

After falling behind, the visitors rang the changes in a bid to get back into the game.

But Paterson dragged a shot wide late on to leave City empty-handed.
