ELLA Turner won bronze in the senior girls 400m at the New Balance ESAA English Schools’ Championships in Birmingham.

The Oxford City AC under 20 athlete set a personal best 54.74secs in the final.

Banbury Harrier Emily Thompson missed out on a medal by 0.4secs in the 800m, finishing fourth in a season’s best time of 2.09.30secs.

In the intermediate (U17) hammer, Radley’s Ella Lovibond threw 53.03 for sixth.

Teammate Eloise Hind was eighth in the junior high jump with a pb of 1.58.

Radley’s Oyare Aneju set a new mark of 13.77 to finish fifth in the intermediate boys triple jump.

Clubmate Adam Chesterman came ninth in the junior (U15) discus with 38.33.

In the 100m, Trey Lumsden, of Vale of Aylesbury, finished fourth in the final.

ABINGDON’S Jeanette Ashton clinched gold in the W60 heptathlon at the British Masters Combined Events Championships in Sheffield.

Clubmate Pete Stepney took silver in the M55 decathlon, with Steve Pomeroy claiming bronze in the pentathlon.

Meanwhile, Oxford Brookes Running and Athletics Club (OBRAC) have received £5,000 in sponsorship from Redrow Homes South Midlands.

Brooks will use the money for training kits, equipment and a new gazebo.

OBRAC member Will Tutte said: “The company has also subsidised accommodation for our away events, including the BUCS indoor championships held in Sheffield, for which we are enormously grateful.”
