OXFORD Ice Rink are celebrating the success of fielding their largest ever team in next weekend’s British Solo Ice Dance Championships.

Eleven Oxford competitors have qualified for the event which takes place in Sheffield.

Seven-year-old Maggie Waring, one of the youngest ice-dancers ever to qualify for the event, will be skating in the Young Stars Level 2 category, while Jack Hammond, ten, and Zenith Quek-Richards (11) will be at Level 3.

Three skaters have qualified for the Juvenile Ladies event– Jasmine Hammond (12) and ten-year-olds Elizabeth Rose Waring and Leehee Shatz.

Fiona Jeffrey, 13, and Jamie Hammond, 14, will be competing in the Primary ladies and men’s events respectively

Ellie Pressdee, 14, will be skating in the ladies’ category of the Basic Novice level, with Morgan Sagar, 15, in the men’s.

Katie Garman (15) completes the line-up in Advanced Novice class.

The achievements are particularly pleasing for Oxford coaches David Horton, Pamela Rhodes, Sue Hands, Mark Rickard and Jason

Blomfield.

In addition, Oxford’s successful junior ice dance club, which has been in existence for nearly two years, has been a great platform to help develop and encourage the young talent.
