CUMNOR posted a 147-run win on the Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) method as rain destroyed much of the Cherwell League programme.

Cumnor posted 244-9 in their 50 overs against Great Brickhill as Max Mannering hit 69 not out and Michael Race 64 in the Division 1 clash.

In reply, Garth Davson scored 44, but with the visitors at 97-4 in 20 overs, the rain brought an early conclusion with Cumnor winning on the DLS method.

Jack Wilkins took 5-9 for Banbury 2nd, but they ended up frustrated as rain forced an abandonment against hosts Buckingham Town 2nd.

Banbury had been shot out for 127, Justin Lambden (61) scoring virtually half their runs.

Buckingham were in dire trouble at 35-6 before the rain came, bizarrely, securing more points than Banbury despite their precarious position.

Challow & Childrey were washed out against visitors Abingdon Vale, who had scored 220 all out in 47 overs, Arthur Jones hitting 83 and George Trewby taking 3-46.

In reply, Challow were 36-1 when the match was called off.

Rain also ruined Tiddington’s clash with visitors Oxford Downs.

Adam Beck (80) and Tom Costley (36) saw Downs to 198-6, but the wet weather meant Tiddington could not start a reply.

Twyford posted 242-8 at home to Long Marston before the match was called off.

Adam Bone top-scored with 77 for Twyford, but the wet weather intervened.

In Division 2, the rain had the final say with Didcot agonisingly close to a big victory against Sandford St Martin in their Division 2 clash at Boundary Park.

After Didcot posted a massive total of 326-3 in their 50 overs, Sandford were in all sorts of trouble at 45-6 when the rain forced the players off just 13 balls away from a position that would have constituted a game under the Duckworth Lewis Stern method.

Didcot captain Richard Cook had no hesitation in batting first.

Although the home side lost young opener Luke Higgins early, caught behind off Ollie Ong for one, Didcot put all the Sandford bowlers to the sword.

Leading the way was Richard Underdown, who amassed a fabulous 131 off 121 balls including 16 fours and four sixes.

He shared a 202-run stand with Elliot Mathews, who finished 74 not out, while Connor Morrison hit 39 and Cook chipped in with 37.

The visitors had no answer to the opening burst of Adam Spears and George Woodley.

The latter bowled with considerable pace, forcing Jonathan Springer to hit the wicket after he struck him with a blow to the head from a short-pitched delivery.

Springer was left dazed as he fell onto his stumps.

No Sandford player reached double figures as they slipped to 45-6.

But conditions continued to deteriorate, and with just 13 balls remaining to reach the 20 overs needed to constitute a game, the umpires took the players off as the rain continued to fall.

Tom Gurney (59) and Olly Tice (40no) saw Westbury to 124-1 in 22 overs as they chased down Aston Rowant’s 218-8.

The rain forced the players off, but Westbury were well ahead of the DLS par score, giving them maximum points.

Earlier, Charlie Williams had taken 4-36 and Charlie Harper 3-57 in Rowant’s innings.

Cropredy’s trip to Bledlow Village was abandoned after the north Oxfordshire side had set 237 all out in their 50 overs.

Andrew Lake took 3-14 as Nondies were bowled out inside 30 overs for 150.

This gave Downs plenty of time before the rain came to reach 153-8 to secure victory, Darryl Woods top-scoring with 73.

Banbury 3rd were staring down the barrel at Stokenchurch, who amassed a formidable 349-8 before the match was abandoned.

Ashley Hunt hit 123 and Arshad Latif 89 for Stokenchurch, but rain meant there was no opportunity for a Banbury reply.

Bizarrely, Banbury finished with more points than their hosts.

In Division 5, James Boon struck 78 for Kingston Bagpuize as his side defeated visitors Didcot 2nd by 187 runs on the DLS method.

The hosts rattled up 259-8 in their 50 overs, Matthew Addison taking 4-45.

Didcot had reached 72-3 in 21.1 overs when rain forced the players off.

Cropredy 2nd posted a massive 228-run win on the DLS method against visitors Chearsley.

Mike Amos-Simpson (91) and Luke Cherry (72) helped Cropredy to a massive 328-8, and Chearsley reached 100-9 in 25 overs when the rain came.

All the other games in the division were ruined by the rain.
