The champions saw off Dark Horse Elite 6-3 as the league – now sponsored by the Oxford Mail’s sister paper – got under way.

SNOOKER: ABINGDON Conservative Club added to their Gentworks Oxford & District League title by winning a thrilling final of the Colin Cutler Memorial Trophy.
Playing off scratch, the Abingdon team of Mick Bennett, Neil Craycraft and Karl Walker won 4-3 against Witney A (+20).
In the deciding frame, Craycraft pulled through to defeat Clive Burnet on the blue.
New Club A (+20) beat Oracle C (+30) 4-2 to win the Buildbase Plate final, while Walker and Bennett teamed up to win the Sherman Pairs, beating Ross Barker and Craycraft 221-121.
BILLIARDS: PAUL Robinson will meet Simon Aries in the final of The Oxford Times Cup after both came through tough semi-final clashes.
Robinson saw off Lewis Moss 500-398 in the first last-four clash held at Littlemore Legion.
The other match saw Aries beat Nigel Bossom 500- 388 to book his place in next week’s final.
