SUMMERTOWN Stars Under 18s caused a big upset when they defeated unbeaten champions Abingdon 4-1 in the Oxfordshire FA Invitation League Cup final at Court Place Farm.
Fred Sturgis, Josh Joseph, Pavle Marcetta and Matheo Charrier-Chardin scored for Stars, whose delighted boss Steve Harris said: “They were a credit to the club and each other.”
l DESPITE three late withdrawals, Oxfordshire Under 14s went to the top of the South West Counties League with a 3-0 victory over Berkshire at Thatcham.
Josh Hedges and Clinton Noshakere put the visitors into a 2-0 interval lead.
Berkshire had the better of the second half, but Mac Spence, Latham Hawkins and Nosakhere shone in the Oxfordshire defence, while James Callan made some fine saves.
Kieran Day scored added a breakaway third goal for Oxon, who are now three points clear.
