JAMES Roberts will stay out on loan from Oxford United until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old striker agreed a one-month move to Guiseley in December, which expired last weekend.

He was a big hit with the Vanarama National League strugglers, scoring three goals in five starts.

And United have agreed for the deal to be extended for the rest of the campaign.

It could mean Roberts has played his last game for the U's, where his contract expires this summer.

The most recent of his three substitute appearances for Pep Clotet's side this season came in the 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers in October.

United, who saw Jack Payne recalled from his loan this week, will be hoping Roberts is the final outgoing player this month.

Speculation linking Simon Eastwood and Ryan Ledson with moves to Sky Bet Championship clubs has cooled this week, but there is still a fortnight remaining of the January transfer window.

Reports in Lancashire have indicated Preston North End believe it will be difficult to sign Ledson this month, but they have not given up hope of agreeing a deal.
