JACK Payne's loan at Oxford United has been ended early by Huddersfield Town.
The 23-year-old joined in July on a season-long loan deal, but it contained a recall clause in January, which the Premier League side have activated.
Payne made 34 appearances for the U's, scoring seven goals.
United boss Pep Clotet told the official website: "Jack has been a pleasure to work with.
"He has shown a lot of love for the club and for his profession and has given us a lot of good memories.
"He is a very talented footballer and Oxford have shown once again that we can help players to progress.
"On behalf of the club we wish Jack well for the future."
Thank you to everyone involved with Oxford United really enjoyed my time here, all the best for the future! ⚽️

Payne said: "It has been great and I have loved my time at Oxford.
"It was a little bit out of the blue to be recalled but I came in today to say thanks to the players and management for making me feel so welcome and I want to thank the Oxford fans as well.
"They have been brilliant with me and I think it is a club that will continue to move forward.
"It has been fantastic to be a part of it."
