WHEATLEY booked their place in the Oxfordshire Shield final when beating Blue Boar 11-5 at Holton Playing Fields.

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier side will face Littlemore, who beat Alchester 34-0, at Iffley Road on a date yet to be confirmed.

Wheatley led 8-0 at half-time, thanks to Jack Taylor’s try and Aaron Laman’s penalty.

The visitors went into the break with two players in the sin-bin.

An increasingly sharp Blue Boar got on the scoreboard in the second half with an unconverted try.

But Laman’s second penalty put Wheatley 11-5 in front.

The home side then held on for victory despite Simon Chadbone being shown a red card and Alex Acklam sin-binned.

Littlemore eased to a 34-0 victory over Alchester in the other semi-final.

First-half tries from Dan Turner, Ben Symington and Jonny Williams, one converted by Stewart Beale, put them into a 17-0 lead in a strong wind.

Aaron Ward (2) and Dawson, Beale converting once more, then crossed after the break to secure victory.

Meanwhile, Chipping Norton lost 16-7 at home to Risborough in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Championship.

Elsewhere, Wallingford will face Beaconsfield at home in the Southern Counties Intermediate Cup semi-finals.

The Southern Counties North rivals will face off on February 10 for a place in the final on February 24.

Meanwhile, Littlemore have handed Slough a walkover in the Senior Vase semi-finals.

Oxford will host Risborough in the semi-finals of the Junior Vase, which is also due to be played on February 10.
