OXFORD City Stars extended their lead at the top of South Division 2 with a convincing 9-2 victory at Slough Jets.

With third-placed Solent Devils beating Peterborough Phantoms, who lie second, Stars are now four points clear at the head of affairs.

It is now eight straight wins for Kenny Redmond’s side.

The match got off to a dramatic start, when just minutes in a slap-shot from Dom Hopkins went wide of the Jets net and smashed the glass behind it.

It prompted a 15-minute delay, but did not affect Oxford with Kamil Kinkor, assisted by Jake Florey, putting the visitors ahead.

However, Slough hit back and levelled on 15 minutes through Lukas Smital.

That merely caused Stars to hit top gear, and strikes from Joe Edwards and Kinkor gave them a 3-1 lead at the end of the opening period.

Timo Lindgren reduced the deficit midway through the second period, before the impressive Stars took control.

Kinkor completed his hat-trick to restore their two-goal advantage, before a superb team goal from Hopkins, assisted by Dax Hedges made it 5-2.

The third period was one-way traffic as Stars went on to run out convincing victors with four goals in seven minutes.

Kinkor claimed his fourth of the night, before Josh Oliver found the net for No 7.

Jason Ikin and Matt Lawday completed the rout with further strikes as red-hot Stars enjoyed another big win.

Next up, however, will be a tougher test when Peterborough visit Oxpens on Sunday night.
