OXFORD Hawks Ladies were indebted to the returning Sandra Roche as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Swansea City in the Investec Western Conference.

In front of a good crowd, the visitors – three places and seven points better off in the table – took the lead after 30 minutes with a slick routine from a penalty corner.

Galvanised into action, Hawks swept up the pitch, Becky Odlin releasing the ball to the unmarked Roche – back in the side after six years playing in London – who equalised with a great strike.

In the second half, Swansea put pressure on the Hawks keeper Jess Hughes and the backline, but they defended superbly and kept everything out.

Hawks thought they had scored the winner, but Katie Lowe, having beaten the keeper, was thwarted by a diving save on the line from one of the Welsh defenders.

Witney were involved in a nine-goal thriller as they lost 5-4 at home to leaders Spencer in South Clubs League Division 2.

The hosts led twice in the first half through Katie Gatt’s short corner and a cheeky reverse-stick shot from Katie Oliver.

Spencer equalised each time and then scored a penalty flick to take a 3-2 interval lead.

The visitors took advantage of defensive mistakes to go 5-2 up in the second half.

Witney rallied late on with Oliver and Gatt scoring their second goals, but Spencer stood firm to win a brilliant game.

Oxford cruised to a 3-0 victory at home to Eastcote to stay second in Division 3 A.

After an entertaining but goalless first half, in which the hosts’ Louise Kay made some important clearances, Oxford took charge after the break.

Molly Reynolds broke the deadlock on the hour from Bubble Baddeley’s cross.

Olivia Strickland deflected in a corner to make it 2-0, and in the last minute, Amy Litchfield set up Floor Timmer for their third
