OXFORD Hawks suffered a decisive 4-1 defeat away to Reading in the Women’s Investec Conference.

The hosts, relegated last season from the Premier League, took a 2-0 interval lead through one breakaway goal and another from a short corner.

Reading made it 3-0 just after the break, but Hawks were rewarded for their efforts.

Lex Thomas, playing against her sister Emma, burst into the D and cut the ball back into the danger zone, where Katie Lowe netted.

But Reading sealed the points by adding a fourth goal.

Oxford came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to Reading 3rd in Division 3A of the South Clubs League.

The visitors soon trailed 2-0, but they levelled before half-time through Laura Pickervance and Floor Timmer, after good link-up play with Bubble Baddeley and Ruth Bedford respectively.

Bedford scored the winner in the second half, after good work from Charley Ebbutt and Timmer.

Goals from Hayley Dobson, Ellie Kearney and Amy Williams gave Witney a 3-0 win away to Trojans 2nd in Division 2.

Philippa Morris scored a hat-trick for the second week running as leaders Wallingford beat Oxford Hawks 3rd 4-1 in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.

Charlotte Satchwell netteded Wallingford’s other goal while Nicky Thornton replied for Hawks.

Abingdon won 2-0 against Banbury 3rd in Premier 1, thanks to goals from Fi Bethel and Ellie Desmond.
